About us

We started off in a small building in the heart of Glendale, Arizona.  It had been an Ice House and a Meat Packing Company.  In fact, before Waylon Jennings was Waylon Jennings, he was a DJ when KVOW radio station was upstairs.  If you stood down in the parking lot you could almost see him up there in the corner booth daydreaming about his future as a country and western singer-.

One day a very nice gentleman from the Arizona Department of Transportation came in and said they were making a right turn lane up at the corner by the school and they were tearing our building down. But FIRST they had to MOVE US.

We were located on Grand Avenue and we had GREAT drive by exposure. We weren't too keen on giving that spot up. But the State said we had to go so we painted our new address up on the building and off we went.

Turns out that was the best thing to happen to us.

One minute we were moving our stuff and the next thing we knew it was 6 months later. 2 days before Christmas Greg and I were weaving in and out of 42 cars to move around our lot. We’ve been off and running ever since!

And that little building over on Grand?

Well, the Glendale Historical Society stepped in and declared the property a historical building and it couldn't be torn down!

8 years later and guess whose address is still up on the building?!

Side note: The City of Glendale tore the building down in 2020.

We've got a brand new blog at the tail end of this webpage that we're sure you're going to really enjoy.

Check it out and Call us at 623 847-1173 or 623 223-0827 to see if we can get YOU back on the road!

GrEG

Meet the owner of The Engine Builders!

He was in a car accident and is out for a couple months with surgery on his foot so we don't have a picture of him. YET.

He's been building motors since he was a boy of 14. He has mad skillz and an unparalleled technical background. I swear, you can call from the side of the road and he can listen to it and tell you what's wrong with your engine!

If you have a problem he's the one to talk to!

dave

Dave has been with us since we opened our doors. He's an off road enthusiast and when he's not here he's out getting his romp on in his RZR.

Dave is our A-Number-One-Tough-Act-To-Follow Engine Builder and we couldn't be any prouder of him. He and Greg go wayyy back so it makes it especially nice to have him here with us.

And, we haven't had a single motor come back for mechanical issues. Impressive!

Dave says that about all a man has is his word and his work. Each and every engine that goes out has his name on it so you KNOW ITS GOOD!

Freddy

Fredy is a family guy. He’s happily married (sorry girls) and he has a 4 year old little girl that just lights his face up.

I have never seen anyone put a motor in as fast as Freddy does. It doesn't matter WHAT it is.

If you ask him what his secret is he'll get this smile on his face and say "It's Magic"!

We believe you Freddy. We believe you.

Frank

Then there's Frank. What can I say about Frank other than he really is the very BEST!

He takes the motors out around here and he's like a hound dog on a scent when it comes to finding out what happened to your motor.

He has a big family and a big heart to match.

If you want to know the "Why's", Frank is your guy!

That's me! I'm one of the originals around here and I'm a delight if I do say so myself.

I'm usually busy answering the phones or making online orders, scheduling, advertising, accounting and whatever the day may bring.

And, if you have a question, I have an answer for you!

I'm in charge of our online presence so if there's a problem with our website, let me know!

John

JOHN

This here is our Tech. John.

You could NOT ask for a better technician and, believe me, in the 5 years since John worked with us before, we.have.tried. to find another John.

He’s quick, he’s sure, and thank you baby Jesus, he is OURS

!

He will diagnose your vehicle, fix it and will explain what was wrong so you can understand it.

If he can teach someone like me everything she knows about cars, he can teach you to.

Welcome back John. We’ve missed you!
